In Fela's perspective, wellness and environmental justice are interconnected, with yoga serving as a bridge between the two. Through yoga, she believes we cultivate a deeper connection to ourselves and others, fostering empathy and awareness.
Inspired by her own journey and the collective displacement experienced during the pandemic, Fela founded "Sol Session." More than a rooftop yoga party, it's a space where people come together to move, breathe, and celebrate their individual and collective paths. Sol Session embodies resilience and the power of community, a testament to Fela's commitment to fostering connection and healing through yoga.
Join Fela on this transformative journey, where the power of yoga becomes a catalyst for profound personal and collective healing and growth.
About ‘A Seat On the Mat’
Name inspired by Shirley Chisholm and Solange Knowles in their works regarding A Seat At The Table and what that means for Black and other marginalized people.
At the beginning of Fela’s yoga journey, she often entered the yoga and wellness space a the only or one of the few black, bigger-bodied person. This inspired her to become what she didn’t see on her yoga and healing journey, highlighting the importance of representation matters, in all ways. Beyond representation of being black on the mat, but being black and healing.
A Seat On the Mat is where you can explore your inner and outer world.
“It’s an honor to be able to have a seat at our table [mat] and for us to open up in this way and for us to feel safe enough to have these conversations and share them.”
